Teaching Professionals

Find inspiration in our regular series of events for teaching professionals. Meet our artist-educators to get lots of ideas for outdoor learning and network with peers across the sector.

Making Space Twilight Sessions

We run termly practical sessions for teachers, working alongside with our team of artist-educators. These take place 4.30-6.00pm, include refreshments and have a different making and creative focus for each session, from working with textiles to wire sculpture and plaster-casting.

Whole Staff Training

We can provide training days for your school at YSP, tailored to your needs and led by our staff and professional artists. For more information or to discuss your needs, please contact Kathryn Welford.

Initial Teacher Training

Our School & Colleges sessions can be adapted for students in Initial Teacher Training and PGCE courses, modelling ways of using art and the outdoors in both Primary and Secondary teaching. The sessions enable students to reflect on creative learning strategies through direct experience of an artist-led workshop.

Events for Teachers

Special Exhibition Previews, Teacher Study Days and networking events are programmed throughout the year. If you are interested in bespoke sessions for teaching professionals, contact our Formal Learning Coordinator, Kathryn Welford.

Student Placements

We are happy to host weeklong student placements for Year 10–13 as part of their work experience programme. Placements are organised between YSP Learning and the school or college, not with individual students. We also host student placements for undergraduates interested in developing their professional practice within gallery education. These are limited in number and are agreed by open application.
